About Our Adventure

Fun in the sun

At the beach in RI

After a year in Cambridge, we’re excited to be returning home to the Bay Area! We’ve enjoyed our time in New England – exploring, spending time with family, and living with seasons – but it’s time for us to return to the place we feel most at home.

But this will be no ordinary cross country move. To fully encapsulate the emotional significance of our return, we felt it necessary to cross the country in style. Over the next few weeks, we will traverse the country width-wise and length-wise, attend the weddings of two fantastic couples, explore the natural wonders of the American Rockies, with the capstone of our annual pilgrimage to Black Rock City, Nevada. For this epic journey, we needed an epic vehicle that was up to the task.

Enter the F350. She’s a 1997, diesel dually with a turbo 7.3 PowerStroke engine and a utility bed – originally she was a plumber’s truck – that could use a bit of TLC (check out the blog for updates on that later). We ventured to scenic Darien, CT, to pick her up from a boat-builder who found her “a little bit extreme.”

She’s a beauty, isn’t she? You can definitely pick her out of a lineup.

But… the truck was not sufficient. Where would we put all of our things as we moved? Where would we sleep on our national park adventures? Surely, we needed a classic, stylish trailer to complement the our truck’s strength and sass. Both of us love Airstreams, and we were fortunate to find a wonderful artist parting ways with his 26′ 1975 Argosy.

We look forward to sharing our adventures with you as we travel the country, looking for America and all of that jazz.

Yours,

Santiago and Rachel
